Crash Course 101 is a course presented by Greater Edmonton Junior Roller Derby Association (GEJRDA) that teaches people (aged 7-17) the basics of skating for roller derby. Our course runs throughout the year. Participants will learn basic skating techniques such as proper derby position, stride, stopping, falling safely, crossovers and footwork, as well as an introduction to the rules of roller derby.
Please note that all participants must bring the following safety gear to the Crash Course:
- quad skates (No rollerblades. Quad skate rentals are available, see below.)
- helmet (skateboard/derby helmet, hockey helmet or bicycle helmet are acceptable for the Crash Course)
- knee pads (the bigger, the better)
- elbow pads
- wrist guards
- mouth guard (optional but recommended)
Limited quad skate rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us for more information.
